Having mediated over 3,000 cases, Ms. Hobbs is on the Board of the International Academy of Mediators and frequently attends and conducts cutting edge mediation trainings throughout the United States. A Fellow and Board Member of the International Academy of Mediators, Karin is a distinguished mediator, trainer and attorney. Formerly Chief Appellate Mediator at the Utah Court of Appeals, Bar Counsel at the Utah State Bar, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney School of Law, Karin was born and raised in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.
Ms. Hobbs has served on the Board of Bar Commissioners at the Utah State Bar and was the founding chair of the Section of Dispute Resolution of the Utah State Bar. Her peers recognized her talent in 2004 when she received the Peter W. Billings, Sr. award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution. In April of 2006, Ms. Hobbs attended an enriching meeting at Harvard University in which Master Mediators from the International Academy of Mediators met with Harvard University professors (Project on Negotiation and Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative) to explore the cutting edge ideas in negotiation and mediation. In March 2007, Ms. Hobbs hosted the "Beyond Yes" Dialogue Series with Harvard Professor Erica Ariel Fox. On October 5, 2007, Ms. Hobbs is conducting Utah's Annual ADR Academy. On October 10-12, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Hobbs is faculty for the ABA's Advanced Mediation and Advocacy Skills Training Program. On October 17, 2007, Ms. Hobbs is teaching Mediation Advocacy to attorneys in Portland, Oregon.
